  Welcome to Southern Oregon

Things to Do Around Ashland

Theater & Indie Films
There are few theaters in the world that can compare with the quality and range of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, here in Ashland.  OSF brings more than 100,000 visitors to our town each year.  Just by it's presence, it raises the bar for all our other local Theater Companies.

An intimate 100-seat year-round theatre
just 10 minutes north of Ashland, OR, dedicated to creating the finest affordable theatrical experience in Southern Oregon.

The Oregon Cabaret Theatre, now in its 24th season, has earned a reputation for top-flight musicals, revues and comedies, all professionally produced with its signature flair and panache. The shows are presented in an elegant nightclub setting housed in a magnificently restored and renovated Baptist church building, complete with stained glass windows and a crystal chandelier from a vintage movie palace.

Oregon Stage Works is dedicated to expressing the diversity and spirit of the American character by staging both classic and original works of artistic merit that entertain, challenge, and educate; simultaneously embracing a community of all ages with affordable theatre and enriching educational opportunities.

The weeklong event focuses attention on playwrights and the development of new works for the American stage. After a nationwide search for new scripts, the plays are vetted by a committee of dedicated readers, who choose the top choices to present at the annual festival.

The ashland independent film festival is five days of the highest quality independent film in this historic town the Washington Post called "a dream you'll never want to leave."  Every Spring, Southern Oregon is buzzing with the excitement of the AIFF.  Over 6000 film lovers gather at the historic art-deco Varsity Theatre in downtown to watch over 80 films in five days.

The Ashland Community Theatre (ACT) has been producing quality theatre in the Ashland community from 1991.  It has staged productions in a variety of local venues every year since then.  For the last three years ACT has also served as a showcase for local authors by presenting quarterly staged new play readings at Paschal Winery.
